A musical centred around a woman’s deep desire to regain her independence after having been moved to a nursing home will take to the stage in Cork and Galway in the near future.
Written and composed by Seán Óg Ó Duinnin and produced by Cumann Léirithe Bhéal Átha’n Ghaorthaidh, the musical titled An tÉalú (The Escape), is centred around character Síle’s constant plea to break out of the nursing home – and sometimes her friends join her amidst the chaos.
An tÉalú is an Irish language musical and will be fully subtitled during the performance at the Cork Opera House on Saturday, September 26, and at the Town Hall Theatre in Galway on August 29.
Subtitles are typically shown above a stage during a live performance and are commonly used in opera and theatre productions to help the audience understand the words being spoken.
